DexCon Game Events

If you have any questions about any events I am running at DexCon 9, email me at andrew@outgun.com for more information.

Wednesday

10 p.m. to 2 a.m. - "Help is NOT on the way"

Game System: The Great Art (table top)

You are the most promising young initiates the School of Hermetic Thought has seen in decades. In fact, you're so trusted you've been given a task that should fall upon a full magus – defending an arcane library. But when uninvited guests show up, you'll need to use everything you've learned so far to avoid any unpleasantness.

With such high hopes hanging upon you, any slip-ups at this point in your training would be catastrophic. You might even be stripped of your powers and cast out of the School, a fate worse than death.

Play will focus on using the available information to creatively solve problems. All materials will be provided, including pregenerated characters. No familiarity with the system is required.

Friday

2 p.m. to 6 p.m. - "Putting the damage on"

Game System: The Great Art (table top)

You've mastered your initiate training in the Great Arts of Magic. Now you must show that you're ready to apply your skills to the service of your society. The Amulet of Keteb has been stolen, and you and your fellow apprentices have been charged with acquiring it from the thieves by any means necessary.

All materials will be provided, including pregenerated characters. No familiarity with the system is required. Characters from previous sessions of The Great Art may be used.

8 p.m. to midnight - "Sin City"

Game System: Capes

Sure, Capes can be a funny and humorous game, but it can also handle more serious matter, like Frank Miler's Sin City series. If you've read the comics or seen the movies, you're ready to try this.

Pregenerated characters will be provided, using a slightly modified version of Capes. No familiarity with the system is required. All materials will be provided.

Saturday

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - "Out in the Black"

Game System: Unistat

Adventure around the 'verse as characters from Joss Whedon's Firefly series. Familiarity with the series is recommended but not required. The free Unistat system will be used, not the published Serenity RPG. All materials will be provided. No familiarity with the system is required.

2 p.m. to 6 p.m. - "The enemy of my enemy"

Game System: The Great Art (LARP)

For decades, the School of Hermetic Thought and the House of Jade and Bone have been academic and political rivals. Now, however, they both find themselves up against the Hand of Fate, who have taken a dangerously militaristic stance. Can the two magical societies find compromise and common ground against their mutual foe, or will old rivalries derail this meeting?

For more than 200 years, modern day magic users, known as Artisans, have accepted the leadership of the School of Hermetic Thought, though not entirely without dispute. No magical society has been as staunch an academic rival as the House of Jade and Bone. It's rarely gone beyond raised voices, but relations have always been strained at best. Now, faced with a threat that targets both equally, the two factions must put aside their differences and work together.

Play will focus on politics and negotiation. All materials will be provided, including pregenerated characters. No familiarity with the system is required. Characters from previous sessions of The Great Art may be used.

Sunday

2 p.m. to 6 p.m. - "One wing dipped in blood"

Game System: Unistat

Since the beginning, you have served God as message bearers, soldiers, agents of mercy, and bloody handed killers. You are angels. You have slept for centuries, and now that you have awakened, you can no longer hear the Word. Without orders or free will, how will you regain your grace?

All materials will be provided. No familiarity with the system is required.
